Paid summer internships at the Minneapolis Star-Tribune

Here's the pitch from the Star-Trib's Duchesne Drew:

"The Minneapolis Star Tribune offers 11 paid internships for the summer of 2012, including a Kaiser Media Internship in Health Reporting, and we’re interested in the best and the brightest at the University of Montana. In many respects, our interns are treated like regular staff members. We expect them to write, shoot, edit and design for Page One and our growing suite of digital products.

"We’re committed to helping our interns develop. We pair them with mentors in their craft areas in addition to assigning them supervisors. We hold weekly brownbag lunches to explore a variety of topics from multimedia storytelling to investigative journalism. We give them honest, constructive feedback on how they’re doing as the summer progresses. And we pay them like pros: $692 a week for 10 to 12 weeks. It’s a great deal. But our internship isn’t for everyone.

"We’re looking for students with enough experience, talent and drive to make the most of this opportunity. Our interns have typically worked at their college news outlet, such as The Kaimin, and done at least one (but more often two) previous internships at professional news outlets. More importantly, they have the kinds of clips and recommendations that stand out in a crowded, competitive field."
